01The De-Salination Standard
Salt is not damage, but it is a record of exposure, and records must be properly closed. Each garment entering our Conservatory is logged by fibre, colour, water type, and time in service before a measured de-salination bath. We use low-mineral water, a pH-neutral cleansing concentrate, and a controlled rinse that lifts residue without disturbing the sweater’s hand. Chlorinated pieces receive a separate treatment; fresh water and salt water are never processed together.
02The Shape Between Seasons
After cleansing, the garment is set on our vertical air frames, where gravity and circulation restore its original drape without the bluntness of heat. Cuffs are eased, shoulder lines reviewed, and any change in float noted against the client’s fit record. For pieces that have spent a season in rotation, we recommend a complete Tidal Reset: de-salination, seam inspection, colour balance, and hand-finished pressing.
03An Ongoing Care Arrangement
Clients who prefer continuity may place their aquatic wardrobe on a Seasonal Conservatory Plan. We collect at the close of summer, complete the necessary treatments, and return the wardrobe before the first serious invitation of autumn. A dedicated care steward tracks each visit, including stains declined, repairs deferred, and the precise point at which a garment should be retired from open water.
